There were many things I learned from John James that have not just made me a better professional and leader, but a better person. The top 2 things I’ve learned from John James are: if you aren’t passionate about what you’re doing, you’re doing it wrong. Also, patience, nothing grows or blossoms when rushed. For a cheeky 3rd, determination. I’ve never seen someone will things into reality like John James.

What I learned from John James was, don’t be afraid to ask questions and to achieve the goals you set. Don’t focus on the negative comments. At least the part to help motivate others and to help lift them up. It makes a big difference in how things are said and the way they’re said. After my Amazon driver training with John James, I had two other mentors before becoming a swift driver. When I was with the first mentor, he would say This is what you signed up for every time we hit traffic or road work. Whereas, with the second mentor, he used that statement when we were on the open road and actually getting to see the country while moving each load to the next destination.  I think that part of John’s leadership is what resonated with me the most.
